Practical and meaningful, this recycled tote pays tribute to the symbolic tree on the 1 Yen coin: Wakagi (若木). But did you know that this tree, which we most often come across in everyday life, does not exist? It is actually a fictional tree imagined in Kyoto by an ordinary citizen following a competition, which embodies the idea of growth, potential and hope for the future. It was created from many references to embody an inspiring and universal spirit.
By using this symbol for the Editions Komorebi logo, designer Akira Nemoto wanted to reflect our philosophy: to celebrate the hidden beauty within the ordinary and to introduce the delightful nuances of Japanese culture to the world.
